40 Shops in Bukit Bintang Found with Pirated Discs

More than 40 shops over 4 shopping complexes in the Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, area have been raided under Ops Helang and found to possess pirated discs and software. The raids were carried out at Sungei Wang Plaza, Low Yat Plaza, Imbi Plaza and Berjaya Times Square between December 5 2006 and January 15 2007.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement director-general Mohd Roslan Mahayuddin said that initial investigations showed that an international syndicate is involved. There were packages meant to be send abroad via air cargo services.
26 people were arrested for dealing in pirated goods.
