49-year-old Dr Zaleha Abd Manaf from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital was called to the witness stand in the murder trial of Altantuya Shaariibuu yesterday where she said there were numerous traces of radio-opaque in the deceased’s bones, suggesting that she was injured by a powerful force such as a gunshot.

The consultant radiologist had analysed 13 x-ray films of Altantuya’s ribs, pelvis, spine and other bones. The white spots she had found are metal elements which show up in the films, as indicated in her report dated 20 November 2006.

Dr Zaleha added that as Dr Mohd Shah Mahmood, the hospital’s forensics head, had told her that the bones were cleaned before the x-rays were taken, she concluded that the metal elements were in the bones, not on the surface.

The hearing continues tomorrow.
