Five Fined for Smoking in Hospital

Five people who were caught smoking at the Sarawak General Hospital have been each fined RM500. Three of them were smoking at the hospital lobby, while two more were smoking at the canteen on Monday.

The Health Department of the hospital has been carrying out enforcement activities to ensure that the smoking regulations are upheld.

Under the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations, 2004, an offender faces a compound of at least RM500 and a maximum of RM10,000 or jail for up to two years, or both.
