A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion that he is the mastermind of the RM2 million luxury vehicle robbery at the Rahman Brother car showroom. The suspect was nabbed at a Sungai Ara apartment yesterday at 10pm.
It is believed that the suspect is the leader of a gang of 8 men who had robbed the showroom of 8 cars and set the premises on fire on Monday at 5:30am. He suffered burn marks on his leg when he was admitted to the Penang Hospital.
Car salesman, Lim Hooi Huah, was found dead in the showroom as well. Post-mortem results showed stab wounds on his neck and bruises on his head.
Police believed that the robbers had driven off with the cars on Sunday as witnesses said that the cars were seen at a car park in Paya Terubong at 8pm, but they returned at 4am the next day to burn the showroom down.
Of the 8 cars that were stolen, two BMWs and a Toyota Alphard were found at a workshop along Jalan Kampung Pisang.
Police have detained a Nepalese guard who worked at the showroom and the workshop owner.
