Rare Wine and Antique Clock Stolen by Security Guard

3 March 2007

A 34-year-old security guard was arrested for stealing 275 bottles of wine worth RM600,000 and a RM200,000 antique clock from his employer’s Penang Hill bungalow. The millionaire business man had lodged a police report when he suspected that his wine and clock had been missing for some time.

Police arrested the guard at his house along Jalan Kampung Pisang, Air Itam, at 8pm on the day the police report was made. It was learnt that the guard had sold the wine to another businessman who lives near the victim’s place. The bottles were recovered from the second businessman’s house and a statement taken from him.

The clock and several antique dolls were recovered following the arrest of a shop owner in inner George Town yesterday afternoon.

The guard will be charged with theft and the two buyers charged with dishonestly receiving stolen property.
