Petaling Jaya

A 24-year-old clerk was abducted by three armed men in Taman Rawang Jaya yesterday at 2:15am and was released six hours later after her parents paid a ransom amount of RM6,000.

Woo Yen Yen’s friend had driven her back home and was waiting in the car when three men in a Proton Waja vehicle stopped in front of the house. Two of the men, armed with a parang and an axe, came out and forced Woo into their car. The man armed with the axe then smashed the windscreen of the Woo’s friend’s car before they sped off.

Woo’s parents received a public phone call later from the kidnappers, who demanded RM6,000 for her release. Woo’s father, 47-year-old Woo Ming Kao, managed to transfer the amount into Woo’s account at 6am. The kidnappers then withdrew the amount from an ATM in Kajang.

At 8am, Woo was given RM50 as taxi fare and released at a taxi stand in Cheras. She managed to call her parents with the help of an elderly man’s mobile phone.
