Police said the search for missing 5-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar has been extended to more areas in the Klang Valley including farms and plantations. To date, police have checked more than 20,000 premises.

Sharlinie has been missing from a playground near her home in Taman Medan since 9 January 2008.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian maid who had sent six intimidating short messages to Sharlinie’s father was sentenced to 7 months’ jail yesterday. Sharlinie’s father, 29-year-old Mohd Nashar Mat Hussein had received the messages anonymously for two days from 10 January 2008.

The maid, Sudarwanti, who was working in Johor Baru since last year, had used a mobile phone with a number registered under her employer’s wife’s name. She had sent messages saying that Sharlinie would never return because she wanted to seek revenge and warned him to keep quiet or she would throw his daughter.

She then warned him that his family would have to bear the consequences if they reported the matter to the police and that Sharlinie was already a victim of a molester. She said that Sharlinie was no longer with her and there would be another child missing.

Police arrested the maid in Jalan Straits View 3, Johor, on 16 January 2008.

Sudarwanti pleaded guilty to committing criminal intimidation at house No 10, Lorong PJS 2C/11N, Taman Medan, on 10 January 2008 at 4:07pm to 9:25am the next day. The judge ordered that her sentenced be served from 16 January 2008.
