Sharlinie Missing: Second Doll, Police Impersonators

Petaling Jaya

Police have found another doll in Gunung Rapat, Ipoh, similar to the one left in the area of Taman Medan last week where 5-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar was last seen.

Sharlinie has been missing from a playground in Taman Medan on 9 January 2008.

A photograph of the doll was taken and eventually caught the attention of the police a few days ago. Petaling police are working with their Perak counterparts to verify the authenticity of the photograph and to contact the person who took it.

Meanwhile on Thursday, a man and his accomplice, both in their 20s, showed up at Sharlinie’s house at 9:40pm, pretending to police officers from the Bukit Aman division.

They claimed to know about Sharlinie’s whereabouts and to have seen her recently. They also asked for a clearer photograph of the girl.

Sharlinie’s family members became suspicious of them and started searching for them after they left asking questions. The two were brought back to the house where one of them admitted that they were bogus policemen. The neighbours became furious and started assaulting them, but one of them managed to escape on a motorcycle.

The other man was handed over the police. He was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre’s (UMMC) psychiatric unit for observation, initially showing that he was mentally unstable.

Police said they have sought for help from Interpol although they have reasons to believe that she is still in the country. House-to-house searching in abandoned houses and buildings in the Klang Valley is still ongoing.
