The armed robbers who have been preying on taxi drivers have been caught after a high-speed chase on Tuesday night in Sungai Mas, Jalan Ipoh. They are believed to be the robbers who slashed and robbed a 62-year-old taxi driver in Bukit Segambut on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 9pm, two locals and a Bangladeshi had robbed a 37-year-old taxi driver in Kuang after getting on his taxi in Rawang. The taxi driver was tied to a tree in a rubber estate there after he was robbed of his belongings.
A police patrol detected the three suspects behaving suspiciously in the taxi at 10:45pm and gave chase. The suspects lost control of the taxi 10km later in Bukit Tunku and ran to a jungle on foot. The suspects were caught soon after and police seized a parang, a balaclava, a leather wallet containing two identity cards and two mobile phones belonging to taxi drivers.
One of the suspects had 8 records related to drug offences. Further investigations revealed that another taxi that was stolen at the Selayang wholesale market involved the three suspects.
