On Sunday, two more churches and a convent school were attacked, apparently believed to be fueled from the recent issue on the use of the word “Allah” in a Christian publication. All Saints’ Church along Jalan Taming Sari and SMK Convent School along Jalan Convent reported arson cases while the Malacca Baptist Church in Durian Daun had black paint splashed on its walls.

In the arson cases, molotov cocktails were tossed into the church and school but caused minimal damage. All Saints’ Church pastor Rev Joshua Ong said he saw black patches on the staircase of the church when he was opening the premises at 7am.

Perak CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said authorities have increased police patrol at places of worship in the state and urged the public to remain calm and not spread SMS rumours.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the situation was under control and the attacks were not coordinated. He said police have not ruled out using the Internal Security Act against the perpetrators.
