Two Men Charged With Possession of Firearms

Ex-policeman Noor Halimi Ahmad, aged 35, of Kampung Parit Tengah, Pekan, Pahang, and Lim Keng Huat, aged 35, from Apartment Lestary, Damansara Damai, are both charged with possession of various firearms. The items involved are a Norinco pistol, seven 9mm bullets, a M26 hand grenade, a fake pistol and of firearm, bullets, and hand grenade with the wrongful intention to use them.

Under the Firearms Act 1971 and Weapons Act 1960 carries a maximum 14 years’ jail and whipping. The charge of having the items with intention to use them carries a maximum seven years’ jail and whipping. Possession of the fake gun under the Firearms Act carries a sentence of 12 months’ jail or RM1,000 fine.

Noor Halimi was also charged with possession of an electric stun gun and Lim was charged twice with possession of a knife and not carrying his identity card with him.

All the offences were believed to be committed along Jalan Bukit Bintang on January 10 2007.

Their cases have been fixed on March 16 2007 for mention.
