Police raided a hotel in Butterworth and found a 16-year-old Chinese national and four other Chinese women naked with men. In the operation code named Ops Noda and Ops Pintas, police seized used condoms, antiseptic mouthwash, lubricants, towels, tissues, RM3,512 cash and record books on the earnings from their sexual activities.
All of them had their statements taken at the Bukit Mertajam police station. The men were released, but a 39-year-old hotel caretaker who was caught with the earnings was remanded under section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
After the raid on Thursday night, police sent the 16-year-old girl, suspected to be a victim of sex trafficking, to a home shelter in Kuala Lumpur. Her case was being investigated under Section 14 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act 2007. The other four women, aged between 26 and 28 years, have been remanded for 14 days under the Immigration Act for violation of social visit passes.
Police said a vice syndicate has been operating for a few months and collected almost RM100,000 monthly. Customers were charged RM200.
