A 6-year-old boy was allegedly sexually abused by a few teenage girls in a children’s home in Kepala Batas which was operated by the state welfare department. The boy was sent there two years ago under a court order and his 38-year-old mother was only allowed to bring him back during festive holidays.

After her son acted suspiciously with his elder brother, his mother lodged a police report at the Kota Setar police station last Thursday, claiming that her son was a victim of sexual abuse and orgies involving the teenagers and preschoolers at the home.

The boy said that the girls would beat up the children if they did not follow their instructions, such as being stripped naked. Once, a girl threw a piece of wood at him for refusing to engage in sexual acts. He allegedly sustained an injured toe with the nail removed.

The case has been referred to the Kepala Batas district police headquarters and a Penang Welfare Department official has ordered an investigation at the home.

Two girls identified by the boy had left the home.
