Kuala Lumpur

Limousine driver Low Teck Chai was filling up petrol for his company’s Mercedes Benz vehicle at 5:45am yesterday along Jalan Gombak when four robbers pulled up beside him in a black Proton Perdana. Three of them alighted their car and one of them repeatedly hit Low on the head with a weapon, possibly a piece of wood.

One robber then pushed 46-year-old Low aside and tried to drive the Mercedes Benz away. The car’s immobiliser system activated and stopped the engine and sounded the alarm some 30 metres away. The robber then pushed Low into the back seat and forced him to disengage the system. Low was subsequently beaten to death.

The robbers left the scene in their car, also believed to be stolen.

Police have classified the case as murder and will be analyzing video taken from the petrol station’s closed-circuit television system.

Low, who worked for Stoneway Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd, left behind three children.
