Four Policemen Charged with Taking Bribes

Four policemen have been charged in two Sessions Courts yesterday for accepting bribes which totalled RM1,930. All of them pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Former chief inspector and head of the Sik district police traffic division ASP Nordin Md Nor, aged 40, was charged with soliciting a RM630 bribe as an inducement for not fining Azmi Hamid for a traffic offence committed on 27 November 2004. The judge fixed bail at RM4,000 in one surety and set his case to be mentioned on 6 January 2008.

Sargeant Idris Saleh, aged 30, was charged with soliciting RM300 from Teh Peng Heng, the operator of JL Snooker Centre at Taman Sri Gedong on 26 May 2005. His bail was fixed at RM3,000 in one surety and 13 January 2008 for mention.

Lance corporals Amir Hat, aged 35, and Shafri Jusoh, aged 39, were jointly charged with accepting a RM1,000 bribe from Yee Ah Bee, aged 35, as an inducement for not taking action against him on 25 January 2006. The judge fixed bail at RM5,000 in one surety for each accused and the case to be heard on 19 September 2007.
