A gang of eight teenagers are suspected to be responsible for a series of armed robberies at 24-hour restaurants this year. Two were arrested yesterday at 12:30pm, one a 19-year-old burger seller at Kampung Medan and the other a 20-year-old despatch worker at Kampung Lindungan. The latter’s motorcycle was seized on suspicion that it may have been stolen.
Two more suspects were detained in USJ at 4:30pm. Both are in their 20s and one of them had a parang with him.
The remaining four are on the run after robbing a restaurant in Putra Heights at 5:40am. They escaped with boxes of cigarettes worth RM2,000, a mobile phone and RM500 cash.
It is believed that the the gang had eaten at the restaurant earlier. When they had finished, four of them confronted the cashier with a knife. After grabbing the loot, they took off on several motorcycles.
