Kuala Lumpur
An armed robber calmly walked into a goldsmith shop at One Utama shopping centre in Bandar Utama yesterday and left with RM300,000 worth of jewellery without causing a commotion. The incident occurred at 1:40pm, lasting only two minutes.
The robber, in his 30s, was pretending to be shopping for jewellery when he pointed a gun at a salesperson and demanded for five trays of jewellery to be emptied into a sack. Once filled, the robber walked off into the crowd.
Although the goldsmith shop has installed closed-circuit television cameras, it had no security guards. Police are now investigating the case.
