Police have nabbed 10 people, aged between 22 and 52, for allegedly stealing liquor in containers in Port Klang worth RM12 million for three months. They were able to steal the imported brandy and beer by checking shipping manifests and taking the containers before the consignees arrive to pick up their goods.

The gang, called the “VSOP Gang” by the police, has struck four times since October 2006. The liquor were taken to a warehouse in Kampung Jawa where they are sent to retailers in the country.

The suspects are being detained at the Simpang Renggam detention centre under the Emergency (Public Order and Prevention of Crime) Ordinance 1969.
