Major International Drug Lab Busted

A major drug lab and an international drug syndicate was uncovered when police raided two locations on Tuesday, seizing 260kg of drugs worth RM44 million. The drugs are believed to be for the international market.

A total number of 13 men, including 6 Meixcans, 4 Singaporeans, 1 Canadian and 2 locals were arrested. RM551,900 cash and 4 vehicles, including a Honda MPV, a Honda City, a Mitsubishi Storm and a Proton Wira were confiscated.

Narcotics officers from Bukit Aman and state police headquarters conducted the first raid on a house in Taman Pelangi where five suspects were arrested, 45.8kg of ketamine and other chemicals were seized.

A factory in Senai was targeted in the second raid, where an illegal drug lab was found. Police seized 215kg of syabu in solid and liquid forms. 3 Mexicans and 2 Singaporeans were arrested on the spot, while another Mexican was arrested at a hotel and the 2 locals nabbed along Jalan Utama, Kampung Melaju Majidee.

The suspects have valid travel documents and have been remanded for two weeks. Police are investigating the case under Section 39 (b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug trafficking, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
