11-year-old Muhammad Asmawi Jalaludin has gone missing from Kampung Kerinchi on Sunday at 6:30pm where he was playing with his friends at the Kerinchi flats, some 200m away from his house.

Asmawi was playing with his friends when he headed home. The Petaling Jaya SRK La Salle pupil was last seen by his friends at Mid Valley, but police have determined the tip to be false. He was wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt and grey short pants.

On Sunday, Rozita went out to search for her youngest son among six siblings when he failed to return home. She lodged a report at the Kerinchi police station on Monday.

Asmawi’s mother, 50-year-old  Rozita Abu Hassan said she had received a short message on Wednesday afternoon demanding a ransom for the boy’s return. Police have identified the sender of the message but no arrests have yet been made.

The public is advised to contact the Rakan COP hotline at 03-2115 9999 or SMS to 32728 or call Rozita at 019-2550279 if they have information on the whereabouts of Asmawi.
