Mother Charged for Causing Death of Baby Daughter

18-year-old Ho Chui Ling was charged in court yesterday for unintentionally causing the death of her 17-month-old daughter. The victim, Chin Shyan Ping, died from physical abuse in their house in Jalan Ronggeng 11, Taman Skudai Baru between 7:30am and 9pm on 25 July 2007.
Ho pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 304(b) of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of up to 10 years in jail and a fine if found guilty.
Neither her 22-year-old husband nor her parents were present in court. The magistrate granted bail at RM6,000.
