The housewife whose 5-year-old daughter was found naked and dead in her car while she went to buy groceries for an hour was charged for lodging a false police report. 24-year-old Loo Mei Foong allegedly gave false information to Corporal Mohd Radzi Hashim at the Kepong district police station on 20 February 2008 at 1:20am.
Loo said that her daughter Cheah Sieow Eng died in her car after she had left her in the car. She was accused to have the intention to stop investigating officer ASP Tan Chek Yang from further probing into the girl’s death.
Post-mortem results showed that the girl had strangulation marks on her neck, and that her mouth and nose had been blocked before she died.
If convicted, Loo can be sentenced to a maximum of 6 months’ jail and fined RM2,000 maximum or both under Section 182 of the Penal Code.
Bail has been set at RM3,000 in one surety and trial has been fixed on 7 April 2008. Loo failed to post bail and was taken to Kajang prison.
