Shah Alam
29-year-old Nor Haryanti Nordin was in court yesterday for the charge of murdering her 2-year-old daughter who is believed to have died from child abuse. The former assistant credit controller of a housing developer is alleged to have murdered Nur Iszyani Amylia Ahmad Iskandar between 25 and 26 April 2004 at their home in Damansara Damai, Sungai Buloh.
59-year-old Esah Awab was at the witness stand describing how she started babysitting Amylia in 2004 when she saw bruise marks all over the girl’s body. Haryanti claimed her son Daniel was the culprit when Esah asked her about the marks.
In another instance, Esah said Amylia had a bandage on her head and there were blood stains on her neck and clothes. When Amylia’s father was questioned on the bandage, he told Esah that the girl had fallen off her bed.
Esah also found Amylia’s sprained arm once which the father said was caused by herself when she was playing with Daniel.
Post mortem results showed that Amylia died of abdominal bleeding due to lacerations of the liver and small bowel caused by blunt-force trauma to her abdomen.
The court hearing continues today.
