Abuse victim Chin Shyan Ping, who died on the way to the Puteri Specialist Hospital last Wednesday night, was suspected to have died from head injuries possibly made by a blunt object. This was discovered from the post-mortem, in addition to scald marks on the 17-month-old’s face and body found by medical personnel.

Shyan Ping’s parents had attempted to rush her to the hospital from a clinic, and her mother later lodged a police report at the Johor Baru district police headquarters. Suspecting that the child had been abused by them, parents Ho Chui Ling, aged 18 and Chin Lip Young, aged 22, have been remanded by police until 1 August 2007.

The baby girl’s body was buried at a cemetery in Taman Skudai Baru yesterday.
