Two Policemen Arrested for Framing Inspector-General

3 October 2007
Petaling Jaya

A police chief inspector and a lance corporal were arrested in Kuantan and Kluang yesterday for allegedly framing Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan by falsifying and tampering with witness statements.

The two, both in their 40s, allegedly falsified the statements of seven witnesses in order to arrest three people under the Emergency Ordinance 1969 by claiming that they were members of a gaming syndicate. The three were arrested by Kluang district police officers on 30 March 2007.

During investigations on the three, Musa was informed that they were framed. CID investigations revealed that the seven denied giving statements to the police on the three arrested being involved in the syndicate.

The three were released in April 2007.

The chief inspector was arrested yesterday at 3pm while the lance corporal was arrested at 11pm. They will be charged with forgery and with using a forged document as genuine. They face two years’ jail or a fine or both for each of the offences.
