Narcotics police busted an international drug syndicate which was processing and distributing Eramin 5, seizing RM61.3 million worth of drugs. A factory in Tebrau 2, Johor Baru was raided by police at 5:30am on Sunday, resulting in the arrested of 10 men, including the mastermind.

At the factory, which has been processing Eramin 5 drugs for the past three months, five men including four Taiwanese were arrested. The men from Taiwan were chemists who had experience in processing raw materials into the drug using machines.

Police seized 7 machines that were used to process the drug, 430kg of Eramin 5 powder and 1.1 million Eramin 5 pills ready for local distribution. It is believed that the machines could produce over 20,000 pills per hour.

The arrests at the factory led police to five other syndicate members in several locations in the state a few hours later.

Police said this is the biggest Eramin 5 drug bust in history. The suspects have been remanded a week for investigations under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
