The person or persons responsible for the rape and murder of 9-year-old Preeshena Varshiny at the Casa Mila Tower condominium in Selayang has not been identified nor caught as residents are living in fear.
On Friday when Preeshena’s body was found on the ground floor, police remanded five foreigners in the area for not having valid travel documents and referred to the Immigration Department.
It is believed that the crime was pre-meditated because the unit where Preeshena was raped was vacant for several months. She was likely murdered before she was thrown off the balcony.

The 36-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter who were found in a burnt car in Kluang on Friday are believed to be Komala Devi and S. Kithinsha respectively. The mother of two children left her shoplot house in Taman Puteri in Kulai to deliver some goods to Taman Saga, Kulai.
Komala did not return to her parents’ home in Taman Manis where her 8-year-old son lived.
Komala’s brother, Ashok Kumar, was contacted on Saturday to identify the two bodies. As he was not able to make a positive identification, police had to obtain DNA samples from Komala’s parents.

It has been determined that the 35-year-old Algerian man who was remanded for the murder of Singaporean Mahani Abdullah was the tenant of the Bangsar Indah condominium unit along Lorong Maarof, and not Mahani herself. 50-year-old Mahani was found stabbed and lying in a pool of blood by the unit owner, an Egyptian, on Sunday.
Police have checked with the Immigration Department that Mahani has visited Malaysia five times since September. She was believed to have known the Algerian, who has taken a DNA test with the police.
The Algerian has been remanded until Friday.
