Samurai Sword Robber Arrested

A 54-year-old robber who has been wanted by the police for his samurai sword wielding was shot and arrested by police.

Three patrol policemen on motorcycles had spotted the robber behaving suspiciously in a Proton Iswara in Taman Jinjang Baru. When they questioned him, he sped off in his vehicle.

The robber then crashed into a stationary car along Jalan Ambong in Kepong Baru. He fled into a car accessory shop, took a can of thinner, splashed it all over the shop premises and threatened to set the place on fire. He threw the empty can at the policemen and plunged with a wooden board with nails. One of the policemen who gave chase sustained a cut on his head.

In defence, another policeman fired two shots at the robber which hit his left thigh and upper abdomen. The injured robber was sent to the Selayang Hospital for treatment.

Police said the suspect will be charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code for attacking and using violence on a police officer.
