Altantuya Murder Trial: Driver of 4WD Unidentifiable

13 November 2007
Shah Alam

Senior forensics digital analyst Mohd Zabri Aidil Talib continued his testimony in the High Court murder trial of Altantuya Shaariibuu yesterday, adding that he was unable to identify the driver of the accused Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar’s four-wheel-drive vehicle as it passed the Kota Damansara toll plaza last year.

Although he had attempted to enlarge the closed-circuit television camera images by 50 times and determining that the recordings were not tampered with, 28-year-old Mohd Zabri could not obtain a definite image of the driver.

Aswami Fadillah Mohd Ariffin, the digital forensic division head of CyberSecurity Malaysia, said he received 14 mobile phones, 16 SIM cards and two laptops from the investigation officers on 9 November, 22 November and 4 December 2006.

Asmawi said he extracted data from the items, which were then matched with logs from service providers such as Maxis and Celcom. He noted that the records were not perfectly matched.

The trial continues today.
