A girl aged between six and nine years old has been found dead in a sports bag that was left at a staircase of a shop lot in PJS1/48 Petaling Utama yesterday morning. Police believe she was sexually assaulted before she was probably strangled. Bruises were found on her neck and hands.

Police believe that the girl was dead for at least six hours before her naked body was found by a supervisor of a book distributing company at the shop lot. 32-year-old Cheng Yan Fang spotted the black-and-blue sports bag at 8:30am and thought it belonged to her employer who had just returned from Singapore.

51-year-old Jack Yeoh Huat Lip, the general manager of the company, arrived half an hour later but did not recognize the bag. When he opened the bag, he saw the girl’s legs. The naked body of the girl was positioned face up, her legs folded to her chest and her hands by her side. Yeoh informed the police immediately.

Post-mortem at the Kuala Lumpur mortuary revealed that the girl had a cucumber and a brinjal stuffed in her private parts. This caused a rupture between her vagina and rectum.

Police suspect that this case may be related to the recent cases in Kampung Baru where a suspect managed to separately lure two girls, aged 5 and 6, to follow him on his motorcycle to search for his missing cat. They were taken away and molested.

Police discovered a steel foundry in Paya Terubong which was fronting a drug laboratory capable of producing heroin and syabu for 1.4 million drug addicts per day. The raid last Friday uncovered 38.5kg of heroin and 1.6kg of syabu, estimated to be worth RM4.5 million.

Three .45 Colt guns, a Browning gun, a Llama Special gun, a Walther gun, a Sig Sauer gun, 13 magazines and 373 bullets were also seized, making it the largest illegal arms catch this year.

A man in his 30s has been arrested for alleged drug trafficking. He was previously arrested for drug offences and firearms possession. Police will detain him until 28 September 2007 while the case is being investigated under drug trafficking and firearms possession.

Police also seized an assortment of jewellery, cash, a car and a motorcycle totalling RM235,900 from the suspect. They believe he processes the heroin with pure base smuggled from Thailand, and sold the drugs together with the firearms and ammunition as package deals.

Ismail Shah Abdul Wahab, aged 24, was found guilty of 14 counts of rape, molest, sodomy, oral sex and robbery at the Kuala Lumpur and Ampang courts last year. His victims were mostly teenage schoolgirls, whom he would deceive into his car by asking for directions to the mosque.

Yesterday, Ismail Shah’s appeal against the 70-year jail sentence was rejected in the High Court.

The judge dismissed his appeal and ordered that he be sent back to prison to continue serving his sentence.
