Malaysia Crime Watch Site Statistics February 2007

February is traditionally a less active month because of the Chinese/Lunar New Year festivities. Those celebrating (and many who don’t) take the opportunity to travel back to their hometowns, visit friends, and go on holidays. While less folks surf the Internet, crime and accident rates tend to rise!

This is the month when MCW reached its 200th news post and received its first comment by a visitor. Thank you!

Body with Stab Wounds Found Buried in Vegetable Plot

Ipoh

Police, acting on a tip-off, found a man’s body buried 1.2m deep in a vegetable plot in Simpang Pulai on Sunday 3:50pm. The body was covered with at least 19 stab wounds and had only a pair of jeans.

The vegetable plot is about one kilometre away from the fourth kilometre of the Simpang Pulai-Kampung Raja road.

It is believed that this is a case of murder as police found blood in the vicinity. Police described the man between 25 and 30 years old, with a fair complexion and about 1.68 metres tall. No weapons were found at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Bag Snatched from Car Pumping Petrol

Penang

A 28-year-old marketing executive was pumping petrol at a station along Jalan Mesjid Nergi on Friday 11am when a motorcyclist passed her and snatched her handbag.

The victim had withdrawn RM10,000 from a bank and was meant for red packets during the Chinese New Year. The motorcyclist rode to the passenger side of her car, opened the door and grabbed the handbag with the money.
