Monk Cheated Two of RM78,400

22 January 2007
Nibong Tebal

A monk managed to coerce two persons into warding off bad luck by praying over red packets filled with cash. A fishmonger and a rice seller followed his instructions and ended up losing RM78,400 in total.

The suspect has been a monk for 23 years and had asked his two victims to put cash into the packets and leave them on a altar for blessing. He then told them to open them only when their business or financial health improves. When it did not happen, the suspect asked them to place more.

A few weeks later, the packets were found to be empty.

Police has arrested the 47-year-old man, who has been with a temple in Sungai Daun for 7 years.

Drug Suspect Drove Car Into Police Cars and Escaped

22 January 2007
Ipoh

A stake out was held at the Ipoh Garden area by the police, looking for a drug suspect. They spotted a man waiting in a car matching the description from a tip-off.

A police officer approached the car and called the suspect to step out of the vehicle. When the suspect refused to comply and tried to ram the officer, the officer veered off and fired two shots at the car’s tyres. The suspect then reversed his car into two police vehicles and several other cars before escaping onto the main road.

Police later found the car abandoned by the North-South Expressway before the Simpang Pulai exit. Four packets believed to contain ecstasy, syabu and ketamine have been found inside it.
