Police have remanded four more suspects involved in the murder of a lorry driver who was stabbed more than 40 times in his house in

The suspects were arrested on Sunday at Gemas in Negri Sembilan and Segamat in Johor and will remain in police custody for a week.

Police will also apply to extend the remand on the 28-year-old housewife arrested earlier by another seven days.

35-year-old R. Balan was stabbed by several intruders last week. His wife and daughter were tied up in the bedroom before he was killed.

Police have rounded up six prostitutes from Uzbekistan and two pimps during an anti-vice operation called Ops Noda at 8pm on Sunday. Two male clients were also arrested at a hotel in Kinta Lane.

It is believed that customers book for the women via the pimps’ mobile phone who charge RM300 for each session. The women, in their 20s, would either meet the customers at a hotel or a designated place of their choice.

The women entered the country as tourists a few weeks ago, arriving initially in Kuala Lumpur.

Police are on a campaign to eradicate such vice activities in the state by raiding karaoke lounges and health centres which often act as cover for such activities.

A taxi driver and three others attacked a 17-year-old Canadian tourist with batons and bamboo sticks after the victim decided not to board his taxi.

Julian Sebastian Beh Pold had hailed the taxi along Petaling Street. He was with some friends on Friday night when he got onto the taxi. When he learnt that the driver refused to use the meter, he got out and slammed the door. The driver came back with three friends and said that Julian had damaged his taxi by slamming the door.

Julian, who plays American football in Quebec, managed to escape with just a few bruises. The large-sized victim did not retaliate and only blocked the blows to him. His friend, Dennis Barry, who witnessed the incident called the police immediately.

Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board chairman Datuk Markiman Kobiran said he would look into the incident.
