Malaysia Police Suggests Criminal Database System

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said that Asean police should cooperate in setting up a criminal database system comprising of records and fingerprints. While at the 29th Asean Chiefs of Police Conference, Musa said besides the existing Electronic Aseanapol Database system that stores information on stolen vehicles, wanted persons and travel documents, there is a need for the criminal database system to help fight against crime and illegal immigration.

The other dialogue partners including China, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, were receptive to the proposal. Japan further suggested that details of suspected terrorists be included in this database.

Musa added that a task force was looking into the proposal and would present a working paper to formalize the suggestion.

Cousin Raped 4-Year-Old Girl

Petaling Jaya

A 4-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 18-year-old cousin at her home in Taman Kinrara after the cousin brought her back from kindergarten on Tuesday at 3pm.

The victim’s 35-year-old housewife mother had called for her nephew who works as a restaurant crew to fetch her daughter as she had to meet a friend. The teenager was told to bring the girl back to his Bandar Kinrara house and watch for her to fetch the girl.

The teenager brought the victim back to her house then brought her back to his house instead.

Later, the teenager’s mother suspected something was wrong when the victim complained about pain in her private parts and cried non-stop. The matter was revealed to the girl’s mother, who lodged a report at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters. The teenager was arrested later that day.

Man Charged with Murder and Incest of Daughters

A 40-year-old odd-job labourer was charged yesterday for the murder of his 7-year-old daughter 5 years ago and committing incest with his 14-year-old daughter in February this year.

In court yesterday, the man was alleged to have murdered the 7-year-old girl, whose birth was not registered, at Medan Angsana 1, Bandar Baru Air Itam, on 11 November 2004 between 7am and 7pm the next day. Under Section 302 of the Penal Code, no plea was entered and no bail was offered.

The man then was charged with committing incest with the older daughter at a male toilet at Level 6, Kompleks Farlim on 7 February 2009 at 12:30pm.

Under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest, the man faces with a jail term of between 6 and 20 years and with whipping.

After the man did not stand up and respond to the charges that were being read out to him, deputy public prosecutor Tan Gin Han told the court that the accused be sent for psychiatric evaluation. Noor Aini ordered the man to be observed for a month at Hospital Bahagia in Ulu Kinta.

His cases are fixed for mention on 12 June 2009.
