35-year-old R. Balan was found dead with stab wounds at his home in Tringkap, Cameron Highlands, on Wednesday morning. At about 2:30am, four men broke into the lorry driver’s flat and tied up his wife.

Three of the suspects then stabbed Balan 27 times with a sharp weapon. His wife and and 6-year-old daughter were spared.

Police have not made any arrests and are determining the motive of the murder.

A 20-year-old man and three students have been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at a Felda Palong settlement earlier this week. One of the the students is the son of a politician.

Police are still looking for two more people, one of whom is also a student.

It is believed that one of the teenagers had invited the girl, who was studying in the same school, to his house while his parents were away. After allegedly raping her, he called five friends who allegedly gang-raped her.

The victim revealed the crime to her mother on Monday night after scratches were found on her neck. Her parents lodged a police in Palong that night.

The four are remanded until 21 August 2007.

The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) has nabbed seven policemen, including a chief inspector at a district police headquarters, for corruption. They were remanded last Friday and have been released on bail.

The seven had raided a house in Sentul last Thursday and arrested a man on a drug charge. They allegedly asked for RM13,000 from the suspect to let him go. As the man had only RM8,000, they took that amount and released him.

The next day, one of the policemen went to the suspect’s Kepong house to allegedly demand another RM5,000 from him. The suspect told him to come back later and contacted the ACA. When the policeman returned, ACA officers ambushed him.

Investigations on this suspect led the arrest of seven of them.
