Altantuya Shaariibuu’s friend, 30-year-old Uuriintuya Gal-Ochir, who accompanied her to Malaysia last year, was the fourth witness from the prosecution side of the murder trial involving the Mongolian model Altantuya and political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda.

She testified in High Court today that taxi driver, Ong Ah Hoon, gave a certain amount of money to police officer Inspector Mohd Faizol Azuhan Che Omar to locate Altantuya. He was said to have paid him at a police station on 23 or 24 October 2006, about five days after Altantuya was reported missing.

Uuriintuya had identified the police officer as the one seen outside Abdul Razak Baginda’s house on 20 October 2006. She also told the court that they made a police report because the three of them, including Altantuya’s cousin, Namiraa Gerelmaa, were indirectly given death threats from Abdul Razak.

The private investigator, P. Balasubramaniam, who was hired by Abdul Razak, had previously stated that Abdul Razak had never told him of his intention to kill anyone.

She explained to Deputy Public Prosecutor Manoj Kurup that when Altantuya did not return from Abdul Razak’s house that night, Uuriintuya contacted Altantuya’s cousin, Burmaa Oyunchimeg, who was in Hong Kong at that time. Burmaa reached Malaysia two or three days later and gave an undisclosed amount money to that taxi driver.

On that night, Altantuya had wanted to return to Abdul Razak’s house again to meet him alone. Uuriintuya told the court that Altantuya looked like she was replying to an SMS while she went out to the same taxi that drove them earlier. Uuriintuya also described Altantuya as being dressed with a black Espirit jacket, a pair of dark blue Levi’s jeans, Gucci sandals, and a black Fendi bag. Altantuya was also wearing a watch, a pair of earrings with “black stones” and a gold ring.

When Namiraa was cross-examined by Wong Kian Kheong, counsel for Abdul Razak, she admitted to having Suras’ mobile phone number and that he had visited her a few times and stayed in her room between half an hour to five hours each. She denied having any close relationship with him. Suras was reportedly to have slept on one of their beds from 5am to 10am, frightening the three women.

Uuriintuya denied demanding any money or air tickets to Mongolia from Abdul Razak and that she and Namiraa had came to Malaysia to find English courses here.

Uuriintuya returned to Mongolia with Namiraa on 26 October 2006.

Murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu’s cousin, Namiraa Gerelmaa, said in High Court today that Altantuya, their mutual friend Gal Ochir Uuriintuya, and herself lodged a police report on 19 October 2006. This was in response to a threat from Abdul Razak Baginda, relayed via private investigator P. Balasubramaniam and his assistant K. Suras Kumar.

The message threatened to kill the three and throw them out of the hotel window. Namiraa said Suras even knocked on their hotel room door every night between 3am to 5am.

Namiraa also said that before they had left Mongolia for Kuala Lumpur last year, Altantuya said she “wanted to come to Malaysia to see her boyfriend”.

On the fifth day of the murder trial of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, her father Dr. Shaariibuu Setev was asked to identify and name a photo of his daughter. He was nearly to tears with the photo was shown to him.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Manoj that asked him if him if he could name her, he said that in his country, children who had passed away are not referred to by their names. However, he said, “but if you want me to, I can tell you her name… Altantuya”. Shaariibuu then cried.

After a short while, Shaariibuu said Altantuya had first met Abdul Razak in Hong Kong in 2004.

He had only known about his daughter’s demise from the Mongolian foreign affairs ministry sometime in November. He flew into Kuala Lumpur on 9 November 2006. The deputy chief of the serious crimes division in KL had met up with him to take him to take his blood sample for DNA matching.

The prosecution’s third witness of the case was Namiraa Gerelmaa, aged 23, who is the victim’s second cousin. She was the last person to have heard from Altantuya.

Namiraa and Altantuya’s friend Uuriintuya Gal-Ochir had followed Altantuya to Abdul Razak’s house by taxi because Altantuya said she wanted to go find him. Upon reaching the house, private investigator P. Balasubramaniam told them that the political analyst was not at home.

The trio then left for their hotel, but when they reached the hotel, Altantuya said she wanted to go to the house again to “wish him Happy Deepavali”. She left in a taxi alone at 9pm, leaving Namiraa and Uuriintuya at the hotel.

Later, Altantuya called their hotel room, and Namiraa answered. She told her that she was outside of Abdul Razak’s house, and then the line was cut off suddenly. Namiraa tried in vain to call her back.

Altantuya had left them a list of numbers to call in case of emergency. Namiraa reached Balasubramaniam, but he said he did not know where Altantuya was. Namiraa also tried calling Balasubramaniam’s assistant, Suras Kumar, but failed to reach him.

Around midnight, the women at the hotel was advised by the hotel manager to call Mr Ang, the private investigator hired by Altantuya.

Namiraa lodged a report at the Jalan Bandar police station the next day. She disputed some of the details in court today.

The report said that she arrived in Malaysia on 6 October 2006, but she said that she arrived on 8 October. She is Altantuya’s cousin when the report stated that she was her friend.

Namiraa denied ever saying that Altantuya had received a call from an Indian man who told her that her husband had asked her to go to his Damansara Heights residence. She also denied using words that indicate that Altantuya was married to Abdul Razak.
