Penang
An airman from Butterworth was conned by an e-mail received in December into thinking that he had won RM1 million in an online lottery.
He transferred RM16,000 to a woman in China in January when he was told that he would need to pay a tax and processing fee before the winnings can be deposited into his bank account. He realized that he was cheated when he did not see the money by early February.
A police report has been lodged.
