Six people who worked at a video shop have claimed trial to possession of 226 pirated DVDs worth about RM12,000. The offence was allegedly committed by the shop supervisor, counter worker, cashier, and three assistants at the shop at 10:30pm on 16 February 2007.

The Sessions Court judge granted three of them bail of RM8,000 in one surety each and the other three, who were Indonesian nationals, bail of RM10,000 each.

The case has been set for mention on 9 April 2007.

Bozlur Rahman, aged 30, was arrested by Rela members during Ops Tegas in Manjung on 25 January 2007 and found with 7 fake work permits in his passport. He was charged on 7 February 2007 with possession of forged documents and has been sentenced to 18 months’ jail by the Sessions Court on Wednesday.

Bozlur had been in the country for more than five years. He did not offered himself up during the amnesty programme in 2005 where illegal immigrants are deported back to their home countries.

Murthy Muthu, aged 29, has been charged in court yesterday for the murder of his 2-year-old son, Ruthren, at their home along Jalan Sungai Pinang, Klang, at 4:15pm on 20 January 2007.

Ruthren’s decomposed body was found off the coast of Teluk Intan on 1 February 2007, stuffed in a travel bag. The body was found by fishermen in a fishing net along the Straits of Malacca near Pulau Sembilan.

The court approved for the case to be heard at the High Court and set 23 March 2007 for mention.
