Police have seized about 636 savings account books and 188 ATM cards from an illegal loan shark syndicate’s house last week. The house along Lorong Batu Nilam, Bukit Tinggi, had such items with details of customers who were mostly factory and low-income workers.

It is believed that the syndicate has collected more than RM300,000 in the past six months from these victims who were from Puchong, Shah Alam, Klang and Subang Jaya. The debt collectors would withdraw all the money from the lenders’ bank accounts, take their commission and return the remainder to the lender.

The case is being investigated under the Moneylenders Act. No arrests have been made but statements have been taken from the seven people found during the raid. The suspects can be jailed up to five years and fined up to a maximum of RM100,000, or both.

Azizan Said, aged 46, a close friend and colleague of the lorry driver whose two sons were allegedly murdered, said that the man had told him about his intentions to take a second wife. Azizan had advised him against it but the man told his wife, now the main murder suspect, about it.

Azizan believes that the second woman is from Sungai Nibong.

Neighbours described the 30-year-old wife as “quiet and harmless”, but police suspect that she had used the cord of an electric iron to stangle her two sons to death.

On Monday early morning, the wife brought neighbour Manisah Nasir, aged 35, to see the bodies of the children in their bedroom. Manisah then covered the bodies with a cloth and told her husband. The lorry driver father was sleeping in another room.

A 23-year-old man, whose father is believed to be a Special Branch officer, was allegedly involved in a fight on Sunday 3am. He and three others were drinking at the 24-hour restaurant along Jalan Walter Grenier, Bukit Bintang.

The fight started between a marketing executive in his 20s and the suspected man, exchanging punches. This led to the suspect getting a knife from the kitchen and the marketing executive getting a baseball bat from his car. The suspect allegedly stabbed the executive a few times with the knife and left the restaurant with the three friends.

An argument had started between them some hours before the fight.

The victim was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital where he died from the stab wounds.

Police have arrested the suspect in his Gombak home and the three friends are wanted.
