Two young men were charged separately for possession and selling of sex DVDs showing former health minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek having sex with a woman in a hotel.

In the first case, 18-year-old Daniel Lee Jun Wei was charged with possessing and selling 6 DVD-R copies of the sex video and 51 other pornographic DVD titles. He was allegedly operating at a stall along Jalan Setia 3/6, in front of Restoran Hong Meng in Taman Setia Indah on 5 January at 10:30pm. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Lee’s case has been set bail at RM4,000 and trial date is 15 April 2008.

18-year-old Goh Cinw Moh was charged with committing the same offence on 5 January 2008 at 8:25pm at a stall near a car park along Jalan Setia 3/6 in Taman Setia Indah. He allegedly had 6 DVD-R copies of the sex video and 18 other pornographic DVD titles. He also pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Goh’s case has been set bail at RM4,000 and trial date is 25 April 2008.

The defence counsel who was representing 29-year-old Ong Chee Leong in the murder case of 3-year-old Shearwey Ooi Ying Ying has said he would discharge himself “in the interest of justice”. Counsel Khoo Chye Beng made the announcement to the High Court yesterday.

The former karaoke lounge manager was charged with the brutal murder of Shearwey at a Sri Impian apartment in Lengkok Angsana, Bandar Baru Air Itam, between 7:30am and 6:30pm on 5 July 2007. Ong claimed trial to the charge.

At the High Court, Justice Abdul Rahim Uda told Khoo that he has “made a noble decision”.

On 12 December 2007, the judge had advised Khoo to discuss with Deputy Public Prosecutor Razali Che Ani and watching brief counsel Jagdeep Singh Deo after Jagdeep Singh had objected to Khoo being Ong’s counsel. This was because Khoo had previously represented the victim’s mother Jess Teh Hooi Wen in a related case involving a false missing person’s report being made by her.

Ong has been advised to find another counsel as the case will be mentioned on 1 February 2008. He also faces a charge of drug possession.

Six months after the “Kampung Baru molester” last attacked, he is feared to be active again after a 6-year-old girl was abducted in Petaling Jaya on Monday at 5pm.

The girl was playing near her flat in Kampung Sepakat, Taman Medan, when a motorcyclist wearing a black jacket approached her to follow him on the pretext of looking for his missing cat. He said he would bring her to see some cats and birds.

A few hours later, the girl was found at Wangsa Maju at 7:45pm. A passerby saw her wandering around and brought her to a nearby police station. The girl checked out fine and was not sexually abused when she was examined by doctors at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The victim’s mother, who works as a cleaner, returned home on Monday evening to find her daughter missing. She lodged a missing person’s report at the Petaling Jaya police station yesterday at 1am.
