A factory worker claimed that a police officer, an Assistant Superintendent in his late 40s, had allegedly raped her and took nude pictures of her at a hotel in George Town. The officer then sent the pictures to her army officer husband and two colleagues last month.

The victim said she knew the officer when she went to see him to help reduce her traffic summons in 2004. He was attached to the Seberang Prai police but was recently transferred to Kuala Lumpur. The officer wanted to see the woman after his transfer, but she refused and he threatened her. The rape allegedly occurred some time in the last three years.

When her husband received the pictures in his office, he took her to lodge a police report on 24 July 2007.

Police have taken statements from both parties and seized a laptop computer, a mobile phone and a printer from the policeman’s office. They have classified the case as criminal intimidation by anonymous communication under Section 507 of the Penal Code, which carries a two-year jail term and a possible fine.

A 12-year-old school dropout and five other teenagers have been remanded for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a 30-year-old factory worker at 11:40pm on Friday.

The group of boys, aged between 16 and 19, were in a lorry which had overtaken the scooter which the victim and a 24-year-old female friend were on in Taman Nusa Damai, Pasir Gudang. The lorry forced the scooter off the road and the suspects grabbed the victim into the lorry and drove off.

The woman was brought to a secluded area in Pasir Gudang where she was gang raped. Sri Alam police were alerted by the victim’s friend. Police then set up a task force headed by Sri Alam CID Chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Nor Rasid and they located the lorry in Taman Nusa Damai and found the victim 8 hours later.

The suspects fled from the scene but were rounded up in raids around Kota Masai. They are being investigated under Sections 376 and 365 of the Penal Code for rape and abduction.

ASP Zulkarnain Samsudin told the court that when he led accused Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri to his office on 12 November 2006, Zulkarnain found a handwritten node in a blue bag. The note contained the mobile phone numbers of murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu and Abdul Razak Baginda, who is accused of abetting to the murder. The itemised telephone bills of Altantuya and her private investigator Ang Chong Beng were found on three A4 size papers.

The note also included the name of Razak’s father, Datuk Abdullah Malim Baginda, his address, a room number (room 823 of Hotel Malaya), and the name “Aminah”. Altantuya was also known as Aminah. The mobile phone numbers of P. Bala Subramaniam, Razak’s private investigator, and a Suresh were also in there.

Zulkarnain made a police report when he returned to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

The phone bill showed that there were 8 calls made from Altantuya’s mobile phone between 26 and 29 September 2006. The second page showed 19 calls from Ang’s mobile phone between 20 and 29 September 2006. The third page showed 9 calls from Ang’s mobile phone between 7 and 15 September 2006.

The next day, Razak led Zulkarnain to his Jalan Ampang office where Zulkarnain seized a handwritten node, two books and a personal digital assistant device. The note read “Mr Razak, please contact me. 017-3992411”. Zulkarnain could not determine if it was signed as Amin or Aminah.

Again, Zulkarnain made a police report after he had seized the items and pass them to investigating officer ASP Tonny Lunggan.
