Man Raped, Molested and Sodomised Stepdaughters

22 March 2009
Kuala Lumpur

Since 2005, a man allegedly molested, raped, and sodomised his four stepdaughters. The man, believed to be an Indonesian national and unemployed, started with molesting two of his stepdaughters, aged 16 and 19 years, at their home in Taman Chi Liung, Klang, on 1 January 2005.

Another 17-year-old stepdaughter was raped several times but did not confide in anyone for fear of her stepfather and the safety of her mother.

The man also allegedly sodomised the youngest daughter, aged 10, in November 2007.

At a wedding, the youngest daughter managed to reveal everything to an aunt, who brought the sisters to a police station to lodge a report against the man.

Man Charged with Death of 4-Month-Old Daughter

17 March 2009
George Town

34-year-old Mohamad Nasir Sulaiman was charged in court yesterday for causing the death of his 4-month-old daughter by throwing her onto a mattress. The man, who works as a plumber, is said to have thrown Nurul Ain Amirah onto the mattress until she suffered bleeding of the cerebral membrane, which led to her death.

He faces a second charge of child abuse by holding Nurul Ain by the feet while turning her around.

Both offences were allegedly committed at a house in Kampung Masjid, Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, on 7 March 2009 at 9pm.

Mohamad Nasir faces a maximum jail term of 30 years and a fine for the first offence under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code and a maximum jail term of 10 years or a RM20,000 fine, or both, for the second offence under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act.

The Sessions Court judge said that as Section 304(a) of the Penal Code had been amended in 2003 to increase the maximum sentence from 20 years to 30 years, it was now a non-bailable offence. This allows the court to decide whether to grant bail to the accused.

The judge then set 23 March 2009 to announce the decision to grant bail and well as giving time for Mohamad Nasir to appoint a lawyer.

Stepmother Kicked and Stamped on Girl

16 March 2009
Serdang

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly beaten and stamped on by her stepmother when she asked her for help in preparing for her school exams. The victim suffered facial bruises and bleeding from her eyes.

The victim was studying for her exams with her two younger sisters, aged 6 and 7, in their home in Taman Pesona Mekar, Kajang. When the stepmother got frustrated with the victim, she allegedly kicked and stamped on her.

The victim’s father found out about the incident and brought her to a clinic which referred her to the Putrajaya Hospital. The examining doctor was shocked by the injuries suffered by the girl and promptly lodged a police report.

Officers from the Social Welfare Department visited the victim at her house on 10 March 2009. They then sent her to Serdang Hospital for a medical examination, which gave the girl a week of medical leave.

The girl’s stepmother has since been detained by the authorities for further investigations.
