A Datuk Seri who is a noted person in the corporate sector has been assaulted and robbed of RM200,000 worth of cash, jewellery and other valuables by six armed men at his house.

The men had parangs with them when they entered the bangalow house via the back door. The phone line was disconnected and they tied up the Datuk Seri, his two sons and a guest. They assaulted the Datuk Seri when they could not find any valuables and threatened him. The Datuk Seri led them to a safe where they took the valuables.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement personnel raided a house in Taman Prima Impian, Segambut believed to be the production site of adulterated liquor. 1000 such bottles, which carried famous brands such as Chivas and Hennessy, have been seized. The bottles carry an estimated price of RM50,000.

A 25-year-old man, believed to be responsible for the illegal brewing, was arrested. Some brewing equipment have also been taken.

The ministry suspect that the liquor was being supplied to entertainment outlets throughout Klang Valley at low prices.

The Sabak Bernam District Council president has been transferred back to the Public Services Department for ignoring entertainment outlets that operate illegal gambling activities. Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo said that the president, Ahmad Samuri Mohd Dahlan, will assist in investigations.

Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ismail Omar has warned all district police chiefs and officers-in-charge against errant approvals and extensions of entertainment licenses and ignoring related vice activities.

Enforcement officers are reminded not to overlook illegal outlets with no license.
