Banting
A 33-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy from Banting were arrested while police seized from them 354 boxes of fireworks worth RM500,000 on Friday evening. They were in a lorry along Jalan Banting-Klang with 50 boxes of fireworks and were heading for Tanjung Sepat.
The rest of the goods were found during two police raids on a storehouse and a terrace house in Tanjung Sepat. The items are believed to have been smuggled from China or Thailand and a syndicate may be involved.
The two have been remanded by police till Wednesday and are investigated under Section 8 of Explosive Act 1957. They face 7 years’ fail or fined up to RM10,000, or both.

Johor Baru
Lee Mon Seng who calls himself the “earthly emperor†and is often seen during Chinese New Year distributing money to the public was robbed of RM26,000 in cash and jewellery.
Ten men allegedly stopped Lee’s Mercedes Benz car in Senai and attacked him with sticks before robbing him of the valuables on Wednesday 8am.
Lee lodged a police report and investigations were ongoing.

Petaling Jaya
Five burglars entered the Bukit Gasing bungalow of 82-year-old Datuk Albert Mah yesterday morning. The former Penang police chief and former Bukit Bendera MP single-handedly fought with them to force them out but was assaulted in the corridor.
Mah is warded at the Intensive Care Unit of University Malaya Medical Centre. He is said to be in critical condition.
After the men assaulted Mah, they ransacked the house and escaped with two laptops, two digital cameras, jewellery, watches and cash, all worth RM50,000.
