Altantuya Murder Trial: Azilah Identified at Baginda’s House

27 March 2008
Shah Alam

ASP Tonny Lunggan continued his testimony in the High Court murder trial of Altantuya Shaariibuu yesterday, saying that he started handling the murder case from 31 October 2006.

The 29-year-old investigating officer attended a meeting at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters relating to the Mongolian woman’s abduction. The next day, he brought Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri to the headquarters for investigations.

Private investigator P. Balasubramaniam positively identified Azilah during an identification parade on 1 November 2006 as the person who had taken Altantuya from outside the home of Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda in Bukit Damansara on the night Altantuya was murdered. Azilah was with another “unidentified man”, said Tonny, who is believed to be Balasubramaniam.

After his arrest, Azilah was ordered to surrender two mobile phones and SIM cards. On the same day, Lance Corporal Rohaniza Roslan was arrested and a mobile phone was seized from her.

The hearing continues today.
