A 14-year-old girl’s 21-year-old uncle, Muhamad Riduan Mat Isa, and her fiancee were charged yesterday separately in court with three counts each of raping her.
They were alleged to have raped the girl:
- in the kitchen at house C8-4, Rumah Panjang, Setapak Jaya, on 27 October 2006 at 3am
- in a room at Block A-6-6, PPR Salak Selatan, Jalan Salak Jaya, on 30 October 2006 at 2am
- in the kitchen of the same place on 3 November 2006 at 3am
Muhamad Riduan faces up to 30 years’ jail and minimum of 10 strokes of the cane while 26-year-old Mohd Faizal Hassan Jamil faces up to 20 years’ jail and whipping for the offences, if found guilty.
Both pleaded not guilty.
The judge set bail at RM10,000 with one surety each and set 3 March 2008 for mention of both cases.

Johor Baru
Johor Customs officers seized more than RM1 million worth of smuggled fireworks, beer and cigarettes in three raids recently.
On 26 January 2008, 1,800 crates of beer worth RM74,000 were seized from a lorry at the Second Link in Johor. The driver managed to escape arrest.
Customs officers raided a container in Pasir Gudang on 28 January 2008 at 5pm and found 800 boxes of fireworks worth RM795,150. The fireworks are believed to be smuggled from China and meant for the coming Chinese New Year celebrations.
In Mersing, 80 cartons of cigarettes worth RM300,000 were seized by the authorities on 30 January 2008 at 7:40am. They were found in two vans which was chased by Customs officers for 30 minutes.

Petaling Jaya
Anti-vice police raided a budget hotel in Puchong yesterday and remanded 34 women, mostly foreigners, suspected to be involved in propitiation.
The women were found hiding in a secret compartment on the top floor of the hotel. The compartment was concealed behind a bed of a guest room.
Two male staff were arrested and the hotel operator is being wanted by the police. Police also seized fireworks worth thousands of ringgit.
