Altantuya Murder Trial: Transmission Stations List Led to Murder Scene

13 February 2008
Shah Alam

Haizal Hambali from Celcom said yesterday that he was taken by investigating police to a road next to the house of accused political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda on 16 June 2007.

As the High Court murder trial of Altantuya Shaariibuu progressed into its 85th day yesterday, the 32-year-old mobile access planning technician said that he was then led to the murder scene along the route based on the locations of transmission stations which were said to have captured voice calls and text messages made from accused Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri’s mobile phone between 17 and 20 October 2006.

He said that he was brought along by the police to verify the transmission stations along the said route. Denying that the list of transmission stations were updated on that day, Haizal also testified that the road map indicating the locations of the transmission stations were accurate and complete.

The trial continues today.

Altantuya Murder Trial: Location of Caller Inaccurate

12 February 2008
Shah Alam

Celcom mobile access planning technician Haizal Hambali told the High Court murder trial of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu that a transmission station could not accurately trace the location of a person using a mobile phone. A call transaction may not be captured by the nearest transmission station if it is handled by another transmission station with a stronger signal.

Haizal also said that the transaction could shift between transmission stations if the area is congested. The call signal may also be weak if the caller was in a jungle or hilly area.

Haizal is the 63rd prosecution witness in the trial and the third from Celcom who had given evidence on mobile phone calls and text messages said to have been made by accused Azilah on the night when Altantuya was murdered.

The trial continues today.
