Johor police have arrested a 29-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man for allegedly distributing the sex DVD video of former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. The female suspect, a beauty salon owner, was arrested in Taman Bukit Perdana, Batu Pahat, on Thursday at 2:30pm.

Police have stated that this suspect is not the woman in the video whom Dr Chua was with in a hotel room. Dr Chua has since admitted to having sex with a woman there.

The male suspect, a farmer, was detained in Batu Pahat for involvement in the distribution of the video and should be released today.

One DVD, three VCDs and a laptop were seized. The woman will be remanded until Monday.

Police said that case was being investigated under Section 292 of the Penal Code for distributing and possessing material containing pornographic elements.

A day after Celcom Special Projects and Investigation Division executive and the prosecution’s 61st witness Mohd Firdaous Mohd Omar was thoroughly challenged by counsel J. Kuldeep Kumar, he was further probed on the inaccuracy and integrity of the detail call logs the former had produced as evidence in the murder trial of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

31-year-old Mohd Firdaous agreed with Kuldeep, who was representing accused Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, that there are discrepancies between the call logs and the customers’ bill statements, as Mohd Firdaous did not verify the information with the Celcom general manager and network engineer. Earlier, Mohd Firdaous also agreed that there were multiple discrepancies in the timestamp and duration of outgoing calls and short messages.

Seven copies of the phone logs were provided to the police, supposedly detailing calls and messages sent between Azilah, Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, Abdul Razak Baginda, and Lance Corporal Rohaniza Roslan. Mohd Firdaous said he collated data requested from the Customer Care Management System and the IT billing department.

When cross-examined by counsel Wong Kian Kheong, who was representing Abdul Razak, Mohd Firdaous admitted that it was possible that the persons who made and received the phone calls may not have been persons whose names were registered in Celcom’s system. He did state that the SIM cards which the phone calls were made from and to had unique serial numbers and thus could not be cloned.

The trial continues on Monday.

A police team headed by Chief Inspector Mohd Hisham A. Rahman raided houses in Bukit Pulau and Taman Bukit Serindit on 31 December 2007 and found drugs worth more than RM1 million. A 21-year-old suspect was arrested in the first house, who then led the police to two more suspects in the second house.

Police said this is the largest drug bust for the state, with seizure of 8,020 ecstasy pills, 1,300 eramine 5 pills, 278gm of ganja and 15.04kg of white powder believed to be ketamine. They also seized RM62,070 cash and a Proton Waja and Proton Iswara vehicles.

When the officers were at the second house, two suspects aged 39 and 43 years old were caught in a Toyota vehicle with 278gm of ganja inside. The three suspects, a bartender, a used car salesman and a transportation agent clerk, are remanded under the Dangerous Drugs Act until 7 January 2008.

Police believe that these arrests will led them to the largest drug trafficking syndicate which has been in operating for two years and supplying drugs in Malacca, Negri Sembilan and northern Johor.
