27-year-old Kharul Eirman Aziz and 22-year-old Asrol Ashar Yusof, both jobless, were charged with murdering 62-year-old Tan Poh Chew in Kampung Tengah 1, Telok Kerang, Permas, while they were robbing her.

The offence, which was committed on 29 November 2007 between 5am and 1:30pm, falls under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death sentence.

Their case has been set for 20 February 2008 for mention.

The 34-year-old guard of the goldsmith shop in Sungai Buloh that was robbed has been detained to aid police investigations. The guard is said to be in stable condition at the Sungai Buloh Hospital and has been put under heavy guard.

Police suspect that this robbery could be an inside job. The guard also illegally possessed a semi-auto .22 Browning gun and has a criminal record. He has been employed as a guard for six months but was not hired from a security company.

Three men wearing crash helmets stormed into a Poh Hong goldsmith shop in Sungai Buloh yesterday at 8:45pm when the owner was closing shop and got away with RM1 million worth of jewellery. They fired several shots and a security guard was hit in the right leg at the shop along Jalan A/63 Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh.

The robbers, who were also wearing masks and armed with sledgehammers, got away on two motorcycles. The heist lasted four minutes.

Police found the sledgehammers and a pistol at the shop.

The 34-year-old guard has been warded at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
