Home-made Bomb Exploded Under Car

A bomb was placed under a car near a bank in Mentakab and detonated remotely on Chinese New Year eve at 9:30pm. Factory worker Mohd Radi Daud was approaching the car with his wife after shopping at a supermarket.

Police believe the bomb was made by someone with knowledge of explosive devices. The bomb contained gunpowder derived from shotgun cartridges and stuffed into a metal pipe.

49-year-old Mohd Radi sustained severe leg injuries and has been warded at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital under police protection. His wife was not hurt.

Three Men Robbed Jewellery Shop With Sticks

Ipoh

Three men in their 20s covered their faces with ski masks and armed with sticks attempted to rob a jewellery shop in Bidor town yesterday at about 2:50pm.

They entered the shop and tried to smash a display cabinet glass but it only cracked slightly. When shop staff and customers started to raise the alarm, the gang ran away in a silver-gold Proton Waja.

One of the customers had thrown a stone at the car, causing a dent on it.

Police are now searching for the men.

Three Thais and a Local Charged for Subang Parade Jewellery Shop Robbery

Three Thai nationals and a Malaysian have been charged with possession of firearms and ammunition. They have been accused to be involved in the Subang Parade Poh Kong jewellery heist on 3 February 2007.

Under the Internal Security Act 1960, the four face the death penalty if convicted.

Songsil Udtoom, aged 37, his brother Jukkis Udtoom, aged 40, Malaysian Loo Yeong Guang, aged 30, and his Thai girlfriend Phailin Noochangphueak, aged 26, were charged with the possession of two Colt pistols, a AR 15 rifle, a Remmington Rand pistol, a Sig Sauer pistol and a Glock pistol in a Pyramid Tower Hotel room in Bandar Sunway at 3:45am on 4 February 2007.

They also face a second charge of possessing 336 bullets at the same location.

Their case has been referred to the Shah Alam High Court and has been set for mention there on 9 March 2007.
